I've been performing traditional music professionally for the past 30 years, and more recently have taken an active interest in researching the history of English folk song. My career has taken me to venues from the Australian National Folk Festival to the Library of Congress in Washington DC, as well as the folk clubs of England and Scotland. As a lecturer I approach the subject at a level that is both academic and performance based, so I will be bringing along my singing voice and instruments such as concertina, button accordion, guitar and banjo for accompaniment. I'm fascinated by the style of the old singers from the British countryside, and like to include archive recordings as well. I also believe that learning should be fun!
