Gill Rossini

Gill Rossini has had a passion for history since childhood, which she attributes to Summers holidays spent touring the historic churches and monuments of Britain with her parents. Her fascination with the past shows no sign of abating and she is involved in many projects which bring the past vividly to life for adult students, organizations and other groups.

Background: Gill is a highly popular tutor in the adult learning sector across Greater Manchester, and North and Mid Wales.  In 2010-11 she was voted Tutor of the Year in Wales, an accolade she is especially proud of and humbled by as the award is won exclusively through nominations from one's students. She also enjoys great success as an entertaining speaker to local societies and clubs.

Publishing History: Gill is a published historian - her commissioned book A History of Adoption in England and Wales, 1850-1961 (published by Pen and Sword Ltd in 2014) was warmly welcomed as a much needed addition to the subject. She is now working on another commissioned book, a history of same sex relationships in England and Wales. Previously she has been commissioned to write school and business histories and has submitted articles to blogs and journals.

Teaching Family History: Gill has been involved in family history since the early 1970's, and has been teaching the subject to adult students since 1988. She is excited to be offering her informal, inclusive and fascinating family history courses through Wilmslow Guild, and looks forward very much to sharing her subject to all those interested in tracking down their ancestors.

Gill's other areas of interest are Women's History, Local and House History, business history, Jewish history, and the history of crime and detection.
