Linda Caddy

After working for many years as a freelance artist and designer, Linda took up a post at Macclesfield college
teaching drawing and painting in Community education. (1999-2006). A role as team leader meant involvement
in curriculum development and mentoring other art tutors. Over this time an inclusive approach to teaching
helped many students to develop their skills and knowledge in their artistic endeavours.
She has been a Guild tutor since 2006. Continued development of her own areas of interest have led to a variety
of themes in lessons with all subjects and techniques covered. The main medium explored is watercolour with a
very thorough grounding in composition, colour theory and techniques as well as basic and intermediate drawing skills.
Topics include landscape, seascape, buildings and perspective, portraits, figures, animals, flowers and trees,
still life and mixed media.
Whenever possible Linda will run one day workshops to focus on specific media such as pastels, acrylics and pen and ink.
To further explore drawing techniques and ideas development Linda also takes students on sketching day trips locally.

As the popularity of her classes grew so too did the opportunity to take students on painting holidays, an idea which
grew from the students themselves nearly 10 years ago. They said they'd come and she said she'd find somewhere suitable!
Somewhere where a whole week could be dedicated to the love of art!
Venues have been carefully researched and chosen for both location, good accommodation and excellent food.
Places visited so far include The French Alps, Pyrenees, Costa Brava, Italian Umbria, Andalucia and Portugal's Algarve.
Over the years Linda has many returning students who have become more than that! As well as growing friendships, a couple
of students have become teachers themselves, and one went to art college as a mature student. So exciting to see where
your art can take you!
So come and join a warm atmosphere, where good humour, patience and a thorough understanding of her subject make
learning fun, whether you are a complete beginner or a more experienced artist.
