This is intended to be an experimental workshop that will allow you to explore the creative potential of melting and distressing heat-soluble fabrics such as Tyvek and Lutrador. The heat gun is now regarded as an essential part of the embroiderer's toolkit and when used in combination with free-machine embroidery can produce stunning textures that can be used as stand-alone pieces or as a basis for further projects such as vessels, jewellery or book covers.
The aim is for students to discover a new method of working with the intention of building up a set of samples that can then be used as a source of inspiration in future embroidery work. The class is suitable for both beginners and more experienced students who wish to inject a bit more creativity into their craft.
All threads and materials can be purchased on the day. You are also welcome to bring your own sewing machine and a heat gun, if you own one!
