* Dip Into Design Saturday 12 October 2019

Whether you are new to creative craft or a more experienced maker, this hands-on workshop provides an opportunity to dip into three basic elements of design; line, shape and pattern. The aim is for you to make a personal response to each design element by completing a series of simple exercises on paper using a range of different drawing media. Alongside this, you will learn about the tools or principles of design such as balance, contrast and unity that will allow you to use each of the design elements to best effect.

At the end of the day you will evaluate all your design experiments and, under the guidance of the tutor, select the most successful ideas that could be applied to future project work in your own craft. Hopefully, by working in this exploratory way, you will be able to enhance your makes; and design pieces with both a unique and professional look.

You do not need to possess good drawing ability. Imagination and a willingness to experiment is all that is required.
Note: materials available to buy from the tutor on the day, or bring your own. Class size limited to 12 students. This workshop could be attended by students studying other crafts e.g. jewellery, calligraphy... as it is a general design day.
