THE WORKING CLASS OF LANCASHIRE & CHESHIRE

'Britain's Bread Hangs by Lancashire Thread' was once a common saying, and with justification. This course examines the cultures, beliefs and material conditions of working class life in the North West from the 1700s to the 1950s, and shows how the cradle of Britain's wealth was full of rich experience, but also dire need.
