November sees the launch of a children's book written by a former teacher, Dee Griffiths, and illustrated by local artist Ali Holah. Both live in Knutsford and met at a chance meeting at the birthday celebration of a mutual friend. Dee had written the story, called Leo's Ladder, after meeting a little boy called George who loved ladders. This surprising obsession sparked Dee's imagination and the result is a charming book about a boy who has always wanted a ladder and finds one. Ali, who sells her art on the Not on the High Street website, made Leo and his family come to life with eye-catching illustrations.
Leo loves ladders and he's always wanted one of his very own.
When he finds a ladder outside his home, he and his parents go on a mission to find its owner.
The problem is, Leo's not sure he wants to give it back!
Join Leo as his search for the ladder leads to an unexpected adventure.
Dee and Ali celebrated the launch at the Lost and Found on 12 November – apropos as the iconic building appears in the illustrations, along with other recognisable locations in town.
They will be signing and selling copies at £7.99 at the Methodist Chapel on Princess Street on 1 December at the Christmas Market. This will make an ideal gift for children and grandchildren.
